Qualicum Beach – The mayor and his councillors should feel extremely proud of themselves. They sold out by allowing OptikTV into Qualicum Beach, they allowed Shaw to monopolize all of the beautiful streets and beaches with Shaw Open, they allowed Smart Meters into the town, and now they have allowed more cell phone towers to be built.

My husband and I are unable to shop on the streets, go down to the beach, and remain in our own home.

We live in Qualicum Woods and the toxic environment makes us sick every day. We have headaches, constant nausea, heart palpitations, dizziness, tinnitus, sleeplessness, and more.

We have to get into our car to drive “away” for several hours a day because we cannot remain in our home.

We have now decided to sell our home, a home that we love, a home that we have put our heart and soul into. We’ve resided here for 15 years!

I taught in Qualicum for 17 years, fought to save the high school in which I taught, and

truly believed that Qualicum was the best.

I find it disgusting that town council has opted to support big wireless corporations rather than to offer a clean and safe environment for all of Qualicum’s citizens. Will they be liable for all of the cancers and health issues that will result?

Council should have been curious enough to research this and maybe there should have been a public referendum to decide whether the residents wanted more cell towers.

Now, it is election time (but) we won’t be voting. The damage is done and we are no longer able to be part of the town.
