Cell Tower At McClintock Middle School: Workers Rescued: Children Sick: Could It Be The Cell Tower?

Could the Cell Tower Have Caused the Children To Be Sick?
A recent cell tower incident sparked our interest in this school. In our search for information on the cell tower rescue done near McClintock Middle School, we found out a strange series of stories about  children who became sick after being outside. They had symptoms of headaches, fainting and passing out. This are all common symptoms from overexposure to microwave radiation from cell towers. We ask that this be researched. Please see facts and news stories below.
The Cell Tower directly next to the school is registered as a Sprint/Crown Castle Cell Tower according to Antennae Search

  • Children were sick after being outside.
  • The school says it was “heat related” which is odd as it was February.
  • Could the antennae power been turned up higher on these days by accident?

We do not know what caused these students to become ill but hope that this questions have been fully explored.

‘CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV)  News: Workers Rescued From Cell Tower

Firefighters responded to a high-angle rescue involving two workers who were stuck on top of a cell tower in south Charlotte Thursday night.

The rescue happened just before 10 p.m. on the 1900 block of Rama Road (1925 Rama Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212 ) near McClintock Middle School. Officials said the people who were trapped were subcontractors working on the tower.

The subcontractors were doing maintenance on the tower when the incident occurred.

Police said one of the workers was reportedly unconscious because of a medical issue. The other worker then went up to help his coworker but couldn’t bring him down.

Charlotte firefighters said the people being rescued were about 130 feet in the air, which caused a problem because it’s higher than the truck’s ladder can go.

CELL TOWER RESCUE: There were scary moments for two workers in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Firefighters had to rescue the pair from the top of a cell tower.

We pose a question. Earlier in the year students were mysteriously sick from “heat related illness” in February. Yes February. Could there be a connection? Could students be sick because of the microwave radiation from the antennas? When were the antennas turned on?

“I went outside, and my head started hurting, and I felt like passing out,” Javier said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Emergency crews were again called to McClintock Middle School Friday afternoon, just a day after a dozen students fell ill on campus.

CMS officials said symptoms Friday included nausea and vomiting along with dizziness and lightheadedness.

Twenty-three students and an adult were sickened, fire officials said. The students were released to their parents.

A mother leaving the school told Channel 9 anchor Blaine Tolison that her child was sick for a second day in a row. She picked her up to take her to the doctors.

Another mother told Tolison that she saw a teacher at the school sick in addition to several children.

The students who felt ill Friday had just come in from outside, the county medical director said.

He said many of them are the same kids who got sick Thursday.

Sanquese Smith rushed to pick up her daughter from McClintock Friday for the second day in a row.

“They keep saying the rooms are hot,” she said. “I think it’s something else because yesterday she was sick, so I think it’s something else they’re not telling us.”

Paramedics responded Thursday afternoon to the middle school after 12 students reported feeling dizzy and lightheaded, school officials said.

Channel 9 was at the school Thursday and witnessed one student drop to the ground as he was led to an ambulance, while another student was taken on a stretcher.

A message was sent to parents after Thursday’s incident that said the illness appeared to be heat-related, but school officials couldn’t be sure.

Health inspection records for the school and found nothing abnormal that would lead to the illnesses.

CMS officials have not said if they will hold school there on Monday.

Newspaper: CMS Issues Message To Parents After More Students Fall Ill At McClintock Middle School

UPDATE: CMS has sent the following message to parents after more students fell ill at McClintock Middle School Friday.

“Good afternoon McClintock families. This is Mark McHugh with a follow-up message about our student illnesses and precautionary measures we are taking at our school.

As you may be aware, we have had a number of students over the past two days to become ill with virus-like symptoms, including nausea, dizziness and light-headedness, and low-grade fever.  Twenty-three (23) students and one adult were checked by our team’s nursing supervisor and medic crews today.  At this time, we do not know the cause of the illness. While on campus, fire department crews checked carbon monoxide levels and found everything to be normal. Our school is also seeking guidance and monitoring from the Mecklenburg County Health Department’s Communicable Disease and Environmental Health Divisions.

On Thursday, our school’s HVAC system was being repaired and not functioning properly to cool the 6th-grade wing of the building. Many of our student illnesses appeared to have been heat related at that time.  CMS Building Services completed the HVAC repair by Thursday afternoon.  As a proactive measure, building services also thoroughly cleaned the 6th-grade section of the building last night; additional cleaning efforts will continue this weekend.

Parents of students who were ill were contacted and children were dismissed into the care of parents or guardians. All other dismissals were as scheduled this afternoon and afternoon activities will take place.

We will keep you updated if we receive any new information during the weekend. If your child has symptoms of fever, dizziness or nausea, please contact your health-care provider.  As always, if your child has fever or vomiting, please keep them home until 24 hours symptom-free.

If you have additional questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.  Thank you for your support of McClintock.”

CHARLOTTE, NC — Officials are trying to determine exactly what may have caused a dozen students to fall ill at McClintock Middle School Thursday afternoon.

According to CMS, a dozen students were treated by Charlotte Fire and Medic crews after they reported feeling dizzy and lightheaded. One student fainted, officials say, and 2 were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

At this time, officials believe the illnesses to be heat related due to the warmer temperatures. CMS says crews will continue to check the facilities throughout the evening.

All after school activities will continue as normal, school officials say.
