The Quinte West Fire department\u2019s response to a late Saturday afternoon fire was very fast \u2013 it was at their own station.<\/p>\n
Around 5 p.m. yesterday, Fire Captain Chris Wigley and another firefighter were in the office at their headquarters on 165 Front Street in Trenton when they heard a cracking and popping sound that caused the\u00a0lights in the building to immediately go out.<\/p>\n
As the two men were preparing to\u00a0investigate,\u00a0smoke started coming out of the fuse panel, causing the smoke detector to go off.<\/p>\n
Once outside, they discovered the hydro meter on the building had caught fire.<\/p>\n
The blaze was promptly put out. Hydro One was called in, as well as an electrician.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s no damage estimate as of yet, according to Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen.<\/p>\n
