(NASDAQ: ITRI), a leading provider of energy and water resource management solutions, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.trilliantinc.com\/\">Trilliant<\/a>, a global smart grid communications leader, announced today that the Dominican Corporation of State Electricity Companies selected Itron\u2019s data management system and electricity meters and Trilliant\u2019s communications system for commercial and industrial (C&amp;I) customers in the Dominican Republic. The fully integrated solution will help the Dominican Republic-based utility improve meter reading accuracy and enhance service for its large customers.<\/p>\n<p>The award was made by the Dominican Corporation of State Electricity Companies (Corporaci\u00f3n Dominicana de Empresas El\u00e9ctricas Estatales \u2013 CDEEE), the holding company that manages the transmission and distribution companies EdeNorte, EdeSur and EdeEste.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Itron and Trilliant solution was one of the best choices available to help us meet our business goals,\u201d said George Reinoso, energy adviser at CDEEE. \u201cWith this flexible solution, we will be able to leverage our existing public cellular network to better manage C&amp;I meter data, eliminate manual meter reads to reduce costs and errors, and the near real-time data will help us improve our regulatory compliance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The partners are providing the SENTINEL\u00ae CellReader\u00ae, an under-the-glass communication solution that discourages tampering. CellReader technology will provide two-way communications between Itron\u2019s SENTINEL C&amp;I meters and Itron\u2019s industry-leading C&amp;I data management system.
