New Telus antennas “Smart Cells” or “Small Cells” have been installed in British Columbia called “eNodeB<\/strong>” (eNB) \u00a0by \u00a0Huawei<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>( Micro BTS Model # BTS3902E ) \u00a0and the single antenna version\u00a0Huawei AtomCell BTS3911E (with integrated MIMO antenna)<\/p>\n

According to Telus, they are for\u00a04G LTE<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Cellular Phone Service<\/span>. \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

5G is being tested here in Vancouver Canada,<\/a>\u00a0Telus and Huawei now call the Next generation \u00a0gigabit NodeB (gNB)<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0or\u00a0\u00a0gNodeB<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

On these antennas it clearly says “FIBER OPTICS”, which appears to be for both cellular and<\/span>\u00a0Telus Optik TV<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

If correct, \u00a0that is high speed fiber optics almost to your front door.. but who wants cellular antennas there too? \u00a0No one does.<\/p>\n

Is Telus installing both systems on telephone poles to compete with Shaw?<\/p>\n

Microcell towers<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0often are located at the highest point in the area to act as a Hub for the LTE Network.<\/p>\n

There are over 30 towns in BC with these, some since 2014, and many more installed in 2016 \/ 2017.<\/p>\n

Towns with challenges for Telus, such as streets on hill sides \u00a0may have up to\u00a0five\u00a0of these antennas, which are very strong and constant microwave signals.<\/p>\n

Vancouver, Victoria, Kamloops, Sunshine Coast are some of the other areas where these antennas have been found.<\/p>\n

Residents close to these antennas are concerned about their health. \u00a0RF Testing revealed the strength of these antennas is very strong.<\/p>\n

”\u00a0Range of small\u00a0cells is 100-150 meters. (500 Feet)<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Uses about 120W.<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Operate on two frequencies: \u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

1900 MHz (UMTS\u00a0– 3G\u00a0technology) and 2100 MHz (LTE – 4G technology).”<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Small Cell Antenna designs vary across the world as each company creates their own Small Cells.<\/p>\n

Even here in Canada, Telus and Bell have used various versions of Small Cell antennas,<\/p>\n

each new one being smaller then the previous version.<\/p>\n
