KRAMER, ON OCTOBER 6TH, 2017<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>In a frantic effort to try and salvage SB649 (the \u201cWireless Industry Prevarication and Theft of the People\u2019s Property Act\u201d) from a veto by Gov. Brown, the wireless industry has come up with a nifty new lie: Without 5G small cells we cannot have autonomous cars.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wireless.blog.law\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Hands-free_Driving.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wireless.blog.law\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Hands-free_Driving-300x215.jpg\" srcset=\"http:\/\/wireless.blog.law\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Hands-free_Driving-300x215.jpg 300x, http:\/\/wireless.blog.law\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Hands-free_Driving-768x550.jpg 768x, http:\/\/wireless.blog.law\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Hands-free_Driving-1024x734.jpg 1024x, http:\/\/wireless.blog.law\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Hands-free_Driving-150x107.jpg 150x, http:\/\/wireless.blog.law\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Hands-free_Driving-400x287.jpg 400x\" width=\"300\" height=\"215\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Huh?<\/p>\n<p>Well, with other industry \u2018sounds good\u2019 myths debunked, the wireless industry lobbyists have straining to find a new prevarication not once mentioned in any of the SB649 hearings: autonomous cars need small cells to\u00a0<del>work<\/del>drive.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, if that\u2019s the case (and its not) then how will self-driving vehicles travel on controlled access state highways and Interstate Highways?\u00a0 <strong>Will the industry commit to placing small cells for each company about every 500 feet along those high access\/use roadways?<\/strong>\u00a0 That would be about 45 new small cells along each mile of roadway.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, wait\u2026 As Jim Lovell actually said during the Apollo 13 mission, \u201cHouston, we\u2019ve had a problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The problem is that SB 649 doesn\u2019t grant any rights to install small cells on controlled access state highways or Interstate Highways.\u00a0 It only deals with right-of-ways controlled by local governments.<\/p>\n<p>Oops!\u00a0 Let\u2019s not let the truth cloud the wireless industry lies\u2026again.<\/p>\n<p>SB 649 is simply a way of diverting 10s of $billions of rent from the citizens of California and into the pockets of wireless industry shareholders with no duties on the wireless industry to build even one small cell site, close one inch of the existing digital divide, provide even 4G services to under- and unserved areas in California.<\/p>\n<p>Stop the SB649 Rip Off!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wireless.blog.law\/2017\/10\/06\/sb649-autonomous-cars-autonomous-lies\/\">http:\/\/wireless.blog.law\/2017\/10\/06\/sb649-autonomous-cars-autonomous-lies\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Two new bills have been introduced in The House of Representatives.<\/h2>\n<h2>Congress now has 4 Bills and one Resolution intended to promote and accelerate 5g and\/or wireless.<\/h2>\n<p>OCT 2, 2017<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>1. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Smart Cities and Communities Act, HR 3895<\/strong><\/span> was introduced in the House of Representatives on October 2nd, 2017 by Rep. Suzanne K. BelBene and Rep. Ben Ray Lujan. Purpose: \u201cTo promote the use of smart technologies and systems in communities and for other purposes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>2. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Moving FIRST Act, HR 3901<\/strong><\/span> was introduced in the House of Representatives on October 2nd, 2017 by Rep. Mark DeSaulnier and is cosponsored by Rep. Lloyd Smucker.
