The mobile phone exposure has been shown to have many effects upon the immune functions, stimulating hormones, mammalian brain, sperm motility and morphology, and neurological pathologies syndrome. The aim of this study was to find out the psychological and psychobiological reactions of the people who are living near mobile phone base transceiver stations (BTS) antenna, in Isfahan, Iran.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study on 250 randomly selected inhabitants (133 women and 117 men) was performed in October 2012 till November 2012. The inhabitants were requested to complete a standardized questionnaire that focused on the relevant psychological and psychobiological reactions parameters. A computer program (SPSS version16.0, Chicago, IL) was used for statistical analysis using the Chi-square test with Yates correction. All the data were tested using a criterion level of p = 0.05.

RESULTS: The results showed that most of the symptoms such as nausea, headache, dizziness, irritability, discomfort, nervousness, depression, sleep disturbance, memory loss and lowering of libido were statistically significant in the inhabitants living near the BTS antenna (<300 m distances) compared to those living far from the BTS antenna (>300 m).

CONCLUSION: It is suggested that cellular phone BTS antenna should not be sited closer than 300 m to populations to minimize exposure of neighbors.

KEYWORDS: Electromagnetic field; health effects; microwave radiation; mobile phone BTS

PMID: 23781985 [PubMed – in process]

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23781985

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Int J Fertil Steril. 2015 Apr-Jun; 9(1): 129–136.

Published online 2015 Apr 21.

PMCID: PMC4410031

In Vitro Effect of Cell Phone Radiation on Motility, DNA Fragmentation and Clusterin Gene Expression in Human Sperm

Adel Zalata, M.D,1 Ayman Z El-Samanoudy, M.D,1 Dalia Shaalan, M.D,1 Youssef El-Baiomy, M.D,2 and Taymour Mostafa, M.D3,*

Author information ► Article notes ► Copyright and License information ► article has been cited by other articles in PMC.

Abstract

Background

Use of cellular phones emitting radiofrequency electromagnetic field (RF-EMF) has been increased exponentially and become a part of everyday life. Radio-frequency electromagnetic radiation (RF-EMR) from these devices could potentially affect sperm development and function. Around 14% of couples in high- and middle-income countries have difficulty conceiving, and there are unexplained declines in semen quality reported in several countries. Given the ubiquity of mobile phone use, the potential role of this environmental exposure needs to be clarified. A systematic review was therefore conducted, followed by meta-analysis using random effects models, to determine whether exposure to RF-EMR emitted from mobile phones affects human sperm quality. Participants were from fertility clinic and research centres. The sperm quality outcome measures were motility, viability and concentration, which are the parameters most frequently used in clinical settings to assess fertility.

We used ten studies in the meta-analysis, including 1492 samples. Exposure to mobile phones was associated with reduced sperm motility (mean difference − 8.1% (95% CI − 13.1, − 3.2)) and viability (mean difference − 9.1% (95% CI − 18.4, 0.2)), but the effects on concentration were more equivocal. The results were consistent across experimental in vitro and observational in vivo studies. We conclude that pooled results from in vitro and in vivo studies suggest that mobile phone exposure negatively affects sperm quality. Further study is required to determine the full clinical implications for both sub-fertile men and the general population.

Abbreviations

CIconfidence intervalRF-EMRradiofrequency electromagnetic radiation, SAR, specific absorption rateEEGelectroencephalographyROSreactive oxygen speciesFEMfixed effect modelREMrandom effects model

Keywords : Fertility Mobile or cell phoneRadiofrequency electromagnetic radiationSperm concentrationSperm viabilitySperm motility

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0160412014001354

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

More Studies

https://emrabc.ca/?page_id=8096

from SSM Newsletter : http://www.stopsmartmetersbc.com/z/2017-07-26-telus-had-a-successful-5g-pilot-test-in-downtown-vancouver/ CBC The National reported on the reduced sperm count in men, down nearly 60% in North America over the last 38 years.
