{"id":11638,"date":"2017-09-14T13:18:48","date_gmt":"2017-09-14T20:18:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/emrabc.ca\/?p=11638"},"modified":"2017-09-14T13:58:45","modified_gmt":"2017-09-14T20:58:45","slug":"scientists-warn-of-potential-serious-health-effects-of-5g","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emrabc.ca\/?p=11638","title":{"rendered":"Scientists warn of potential serious health effects of 5G"},"content":{"rendered":"<div title=\"Page 1\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>September 11, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PDF ENITRE DOCUMENT \u00a0:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/emrabc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Scientist-Appeal-for-5G-Moratorium-September-11-2017.pdf\">Scientist-Appeal-for-5G-Moratorium-September-11-2017<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>We the undersigned, more than 170 scientists from 37 countries, recommend a moratorium on the roll- out of the fifth generation, 5G, for telecommunication until potential hazards for human health and the environment have been fully investigated by scientists independent from industry. 5G will substantially increase exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) on top of the 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, etc.\u00a0for telecommunications already in place. \u00a0<\/strong><strong>RF-EMF has been proven to be harmful for humans and the environment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>5G leads to massive increase of mandatory exposure to wireless radiation<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<div title=\"Page 1\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>5G technology is effective only over short distance. It is poorly transmitted through solid material.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Many new antennas will be required and full-scale implementation will result in antennas in urban areas, <strong>thus massively increasing mandatory exposure.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>With \u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/26372109\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">the ever more extensive use of wireless technologies<\/span><\/a>,\u201d nobody can avoid to be exposed. Because on top of the increased number of 5G-transmitters (even within housing, shops and in hospitals) according to estimates, \u201d10 to 20 billion connections\u201d (to refrigerators, washing machines, surveillance cameras, self-driving cars and buses, etc.) will be parts of the Internet of Things. All these together can cause a substantial increase in the total, long term RF-EMF exposure to all EU citizens.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Harmful effects of RF-EMF exposure are already proven<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/markpmills\/2016\/09\/28\/the-internet-of-things-wont-be-big-itll-be-huge\/&amp;refURL=http:\/\/www.stopsmartmetersbc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Scientist-Appeal-for-5G-Moratorium-September-11-2017.pdf&amp;referrer=http:\/\/www.stopsmartmetersbc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Scientist-Appeal-for-5G-Moratorium-September-11-2017.pdf\">220 scientists from more than 40 countries<\/a> have expressed their \u201cserious concerns\u201d regarding the ubiquitous and increasing exposure to EMF generated by electric and wireless devices already before the additional 5G roll-out. They refer to the fact that \u201dnumerous recent scientific publications have shown that EMF affects living organisms at levels well below most international and national guidelines\u201d. Effects include increased cancer risk, cellular stress, increase in harmful free radicals, genetic damages, structural and functional changes of the reproductive system, learning and memory deficits, neurological disorders, and negative impacts on general well-being in humans. Damage goes well beyond the human race, as there is growing evidence of harmful effects to both plants and animals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>After the scientists\u2019 appeal was written in 2015 additional research has convincingly confirmed serious health risks from RF-EMF fields from wireless technology. The world\u2019s largest study (25 million US dollar) National Toxicology Program (NTP), shows statistically significant increase in the incidence of brain\u00a0and heart cancer in animals exposed to EMF below the ICNIRP\u00a0guidelines followed by most countries. These results support results in human epidemiological studies on RF radiation and brain tumour risk. A large number of peer-reviewed scientific\u00a0reports demonstrate harm to human health from EMFs.\u00a0Radiation Protection)<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>RF-EMF radiation is carcinogenic to humans.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>(International Commission on Non-Ionizing\u00a0confirm that\u00a0The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the cancer agency of the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2011 concluded that EMFs of frequencies 30 KHz \u2013 300 GHz are possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B). However, new studies like the NTP study mentioned above and several epidemiological investigations including the latest studies on mobile phone use and brain cancer risks<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"page1image38800\" src=\"file:\/\/\/page1image38800\" width=\"2.640000\" height=\"13.560000\" \/>The EUROPA EM-EMF Guideline 2016 states that \u201dthere is strong evidence that long-term exposure\u00a0to certain EMFs is a risk factor for diseases such as certain cancers, Alzheimer&#8217;s disease, and male infertili- ty&#8230;Common EHS (electromagnetic hypersensitivity) symptoms include headaches, concentration difficulties, sleep problems, depression, lack of energy, fatigue, and flu-like symptoms.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>An increasing part of the European population is affected by ill health symptoms that have for\u00a0many years been linked to exposure to EMF and wireless radiation in the scientific literature. The Interna- tional Scientific Declaration on EHS &amp; multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS), Brussels 2015, declares that: &#8220;In view of our present scientific knowledge, we thereby stress all national and international bodies and insti- tutions&#8230;to recognize EHS and MCS as true medical conditions which acting as sentinel diseases may create a major public health concern in years to come worldwide i.e. in all the countries implementing unrestricted use of electromagnetic field-based wireless technologies and marketed chemical substances&#8230; Inaction is a cost to society and is not an option anymore&#8230; we unanimously acknowledge this serious hazard to public health&#8230;that major primary prevention measures are adopted and prioritized, to face this worldwide panepidemic in perspective.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div title=\"Page 2\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Precautions<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The<strong> Precautionary Principle<\/strong> adopted by EU 2005 diminish that harm.\u201d\u00a0actions shall be taken to avoid or\u00a0The\u00a0(UNESCO) was\u00a0: \u201dWhen human activities may lead\u00a0to morally unacceptable harm that is scientifically plausible but uncertain,<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Resolution 1815<\/strong> (Council of Europe, 2011): \u201dTake all reasonable measures to reduce exposure to\u00a0electromagnetic fields, especially to radio frequencies from mobile phones, and particularly the exposure to children and young people who seem to be most at risk from head tumours&#8230;Assembly strongly recom- mends that the ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principle is applied, covering both the so-called thermal effects and the athermic [non-thermal] or biological effects of electromagnetic emissions or radiation\u201d and to \u201dimprove risk-assessment standards and quality\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Nuremberg code\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>(1949) applies to all experiments on humans, thus including the roll-out of 5G\u00a0with new, higher RF-EMF exposure. All such experiments: \u201dshould be based on previous knowledge (e.g., an\u00a0<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">expectation derived from animal experiments) that justifies the experiment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>No experiment should be conducted, where there is an a prior reason to believe that death or disabling injury will occur; except perhaps, in those experiments where the experimental physicians also serve as subjects.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span>The European Environment Agency\u00a0<\/span><span>\u201cSafety guidelines\u201d protect industry \u2014 not health The current ICNIRP \u201dsafety guidelines\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span>tionships with telecommunications or electric companies\u00a0<\/span><span>to include scientists with competence in medicine<\/span><\/p>\n<div title=\"Page 2\">\n<div>\n<p>No experiment should be con- haps, in those experiments where the experimental physicians also serve as subjects.\u00a0expectation derived from animal experiments) that justifies the experiment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The European Environment Agency (EEA) is warning for &#8220;Radiation risk from everyday devices&#8221; in spite of the radiation being below the WHO\/ICNIRP standards. \u00a0EEA also concludes : &#8220;There are many examples of the failure to use the precautionary principle in the past, which have resulted in serious and often irreversible damage to health and environments&#8230; harmful exposures can be widespread before there is both &#8216;convincing&#8217; evidence of harm from long-term exposures, and biological understanding (mechanism) of how that harm is caused.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>\u201cSafety guidelines\u201d protect industry \u2014 not health<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The current ICNIRP\/WHO guidelines for EMF are based on the obsolete hypothesis heating of exposed tissue that \u201dThe critical effect of RF-EMF exposure relevant to human health and safety is heating of exposed tissue.\u201d However, scientists have proven that many different kinds of illnesses and harms are caused without heating\u00a0 (\u201dnon- thermal effect\u201d) at radiation levels well below ICNIRP guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div title=\"Page 3\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h2>We urge EU:<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>1) To take all reasonable measures to halt the 5G RF-EMF expansion until independent scientists can assure that 5G and the total radiation levels caused by RF-EMF (5G together with 2G, 3G, 4G, and WiFi) will not be harmful for EU-citizens, especially infants, children and pregnant women, as\u00a0well as the environment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>2) To recommend that all EU countries, especially their radiation safety agencies, follow Resolution\u00a01815 and\u00a0information,\u00a0citizens,\u00a0including, teachers and physicians,<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>how and why to avoid wireless communication, particularly in\/near e.g., daycare centres,\u00a0schools, homes, workplaces, hospitals and elderly care.<\/p>\n<p>3) To appoint immediately, without industry influence, an EU task force of independent, truth Impartial EMF-and-health scientists with no conflicts of interest to re-evaluate the health risks and :<\/p>\n<p>a) to decide about new, safe &#8220;maximum total exposure standards&#8221; for all wireless communication within EU. \u00a0b) To study the total and cumulative exposure affecting EU-citizens. \u00a0c) \u00a0To create rules that will be prescribed\/enfoced within the EU about how to avoid exposure exceeding new EU&#8221;maximum total exposure standards&#8221;
