“When William J. Broad, a Pulitzer-Prize winning New York Times science writer, strangely mangles information on the dangers\u00a0of 5G, this plays right into the hands of those determined to advance this never-tested technology without serious\u00a0examination of its long-term impact on human health and the environment.
The recent headline of the NYTimes trumpeted 5G as the \u201chealth hazard that isn\u2019t.\u201d Not so fast. A close examination of claims\u00a0in that article indicates that it is time for a reset on the march to the latest wireless technology as the consequences could not\u00a0be more monumental.

“The term \u20185G’ denotes the 5th generation of wireless cellular telecom technology that is still
being defined. Over the past four decades, the wireless industry has introduced a new generation
of their cellular phone technology roughly every 10 years. Today\u2019s cellular networks support
2G, 3G, and 4G. 4G, though not yet fully built out, was given the nickname, LTE for \u201clong term
evolution\u201d. 5G does not exist yet, except partially in a few trials, but plans are for it to be
somewhat different insofar as it will not replace 4G, but will add to it. 5G will be a short-range
companion to 4G LTE that uses new, much higher previously unused frequency bands that are
capable of faster data transfer and shortened latency delay in response time for realtime
applications. The longer-range 4G LTE will continue to provide voice service and will manage
links to 5G devices.”

Some believe the rush to hype 5G even before 5G technologies are fully developed or standardized is a trojan horse, that\u00a0effectively brings 4G closer to homes without the difficulty and cost of obtaining permissions required for cell towers, while at\u00a0the same time staking claim to muni \u2018real estate\u2019 for 5G later on if and when the 5G network is built out in a given location.<\/div>\n

“For now, the sheer number of radiating antennas being installed in close proximity to homes should be alarming to us all. So,\u00a0too, should the fact that there exists\u00a0far superior and much safer\u00a0communications technology that is\u00a0not\u00a0being deployed (Fiber\u00a0To The Premises, or FTTP), as described last year in National Institute for Science, Law and Public Policy\u2019s\u00a0‘Re-Inventing Wires:\u00a0The Future of Landlines and Networks’.<\/div>\n


And, finally, of great concern is the fact that the U.S. government has\u00a0known for well over a half a century\u00a0that Radio\u00a0Frequency Radiation emitted by wireless antennas and devices is linked to many diseases, including cancer, and including from\u00a0their own research. Yet it has enabled the growth of the wireless industry to its present multi-trillion dollar size, and is now\u00a0facilitating 4G\/5G antenna densification, greatly escalating biological and health risks to humans, animals and Nature, while,\u00a0importantly, eliminating local government control.\u201d
