This approach, for example, enables high data rates to be transmitted with low latency, thus enabling a large proportion of current telecommunications tasks to be handled. However, communication at the nano- and microscale, for example, connecting biology and digital technologies, presents communication systems with new challenges that cannot be addressed using existing concepts. Research into new concepts for communication in such complex environments is therefore urgently needed. Molecular communication (MK) represents one solution. Nanoparticles, for example, are used as information carriers to enable communication even in environments where radio transmission is not applicable, such as the human body.

OBJECTIVES AND APPROACH

The “Internet of Bio-Nano-Things” (IoBNT) project aims to research a communication platform for connecting the human body to future 6G networks. At the technological level, this will involve exploring novel interfaces between molecular communication and radio-frequency communication. To investigate the performance parameters of the communication system, key parameters such as the propagation behavior of nanoparticles in liquids and the theoretical information capacity of DNA molecules will also be investigated. The overall goal of the project is to create an end-to-end hardware and software test environment and evaluate it with respect to relevant biomedical use cases.

INNOVATIONS AND PERSPECTIVES

The envisioned communication platform represents a crucial step toward future body-area networks in medical technology. Such networks can be used, for example, to coordinate nanorobots in therapeutic applications, thus making treatments more targeted and gentler for patients. Molecular communication also represents a potential key technology for future communication standards beyond 6G, and early research into it can help secure the technological sovereignty of Germany and the European Economic Area in this area.

Human Area Network (HAN) : Turning Humans Into Swipe Card?

https://medium.com/zairza/human-area-network-han-turning-humans-into-swipe-card-7d670b9ee0cb

Smart Health : WBAN, Nanoscale Computing and Communication

RFID

Nano Antennas

An investigation into the layers that most do not see or understand, a peak behind the curtain of wireless and the cloud.
