Thousands of form letters were sent this week to all BC Hydro customers who have requested to retain their analogue meters. Hydro’s letter states that, absolutely, all customers no longer have a choice.<\/span>
\n<\/em><\/span>
\n If you received Hydro’s letter<\/span><\/strong>, the following template, with instructions, will assist you if you still wish to stand up for your basic human rights and speak for choice in the matter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Send by e-mail. \u00a0Not surprisingly, Hydro has been deleting emails, so send also by regular or registered mail,\u00a0<\/span>Attention: Gary Murphy<\/span><\/strong>. Make sure to send to your MLA, mayor and council as well. These are stated in the form below.<\/span>
\n
\n TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. \u00a0Send e-mails immediately and mail letter directly following.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It is imperative that people respond in writing to Hydro’s last letter from Chief Smart Metering Program Project Officer Gary Murphy,\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>and that it be\u00a0<\/span>received by mail as well as by e-mail<\/span><\/strong>, as they will try to deny receipt of it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Make sure that all letters you send are\u00a0<\/span>kept by you as copies and documented as to the date of mailing<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

NOTE WELL:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span>When inserting your account number in your letter, do not use the account number quoted in your letter from Hydro, but the one on your monthly invoice.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/strong>
\n If you are caught on the phone with a BC Hydro person, you can read this letter aloud over the phone to them. Don’t stop reading until you have finished or they hang up on you. Hang up once you are done reading the letter. Don’t get into discussion with them, JUST READ THE LETTER ALOUD IF THEY CALL YOU AND CATCH YOU OFF GUARD. Keep the letter beside the phone. Use it as your script, just as Hydro uses a script when talking to you.<\/span><\/p>\n

MAKE A NOISE.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0The slide to dictatorship and denial of democratic rights should be hugely concerning to every single citizen of Canada, no matter if they like microwave device smart meters or not.<\/span><\/p>\n

This letter is my FINAL REFUSAL NOTICE AND RESPONSE to your continued harassment via letters and phone calls threatening to install a microwave device (wireless smart meter) on my home in spite of my previous correspondence CATEGORICALLY REFUSING THIS MICROWAVE DEVICE AND REFUSING YOU ENTRY to my property for the express purpose of CHANGING the current meter for said microwave device.<\/span><\/p>\n

Given the existing and developing scientific and professional concerns regarding the person and property risks from fire as well as incalculable risks to health and safety from these microwave devices, I continue to refuse the placing of such a device on my property, in any location. You are hereby prohibited AT ANY TIME, NOW AND IN THE FUTURE, from entering my property for the purpose of installing such a microwave device.<\/span><\/p>\n

You assert your contractual right to “access” your equipment. I agree that you may continue to access this property and your equipment\u00a0<\/span>for the purpose of reading the present non-radiofrequency radiation meter.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>If our current meter needs replacement, you may replace it with a safe and secure analogue meter.<\/span><\/p>\n

I interpret your actions of continued harassment and threatening behaviour as abuse of power by a monopoly and a clear violation of the rights and freedoms afforded to me by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms as enshrined in our Canadian Constitution. Your departure from the very foundation of our social structure and violation of our basic democratic process is evidenced by the need to protect people from such actions via the Human Rights Class Action lawsuit approved against BC Hydro.\u00a0<\/span>(optional clause – delete if not applicable\u00a0<\/span><\/em>–<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>I am a plaintiff in this regard, and further harassment of me is contrary to the Human Rights Code.)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

You are on notice that my family and I rely on our power supply from BC Hydro for our health and livelihood. In the event that you cut off power to my home as a result of my refusal to allow you to install a microwave device at my home, I will consider you to have breached the Tariff, and I will hold you accountable for damages in that regard.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a customer of this public utility, I demand you immediately institute CHOICE at no cost by way of an opt out program which can be accessed by all of us who unequivocally refuse microwave device smart meters on our property.\u00a0 BC Hydro and the BC Liberals are well aware that opt out provisions are now being mandated in most places where smart metering is being implemented, including Quebec. I stand resolute in my demand to be respected as your customer and as a citizen of British Columbia, Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n

All harassment, intimidation and threats to me or my family by BC Hydro’s employees or assigns in their efforts to force a microwave device upon me against my will, despite being condoned by the BC Liberals, must stop immediately.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
