For the second time in three years residents in the northwest community of Hawkwood are trying to keep a Rogers cell phone tower out of their community.<\/p>\n
At a meeting Tuesday night some residents expressed concern about the potential health\u00a0effects.<\/p>\n

Viorica\u00a0Robinson says coverage is sufficient and she worries about the possible health consequences of living in close proximity to a cell tower.<\/span><\/p>\n
“We don’t know and twenty years from now might find out as bad as the high power line for us . or the tobacco. I don’t think we have enough studies to show it does not do anything wrong to us,” Robinson tells CBC News.<\/p>\n

“In the valley there is a lot of weak signal and they also get complaints they get a weak signal so we’re trying to satisfy both parties,” Magliocca said.<\/p>\n

Rogers will continue to gather public input and then make their case to city council. The city has the final say on a new tower.<\/p>\n
