In February 2018 Brig. Gen. Robert S. Spalding III assumed the duties of Special Assistant to the U.S. Air Force Vice Chief of Staff.  Putting it mildly – it didn’t work out, which led to General Spalding being interviewed by The New Yorker for an article titled, “The Terrifying Potential of 5G.” The article referenced concerns about health risks from 5G exposure (see 1, 2, 3).  However, it primarily focused on grave cybersecurity risks and how increased surveillance from the technology could drastically affect the American way-of-life:

A system built on millions of cell relays, antennas, and sensors also offers previously unthinkable surveillance potential. Telecom companies already sell location data to marketers, and law enforcement has used similar data to track protesters. 5G will catalogue exactly where someone has come from, where they are going, and what they are doing.
Paired with facial recognition and artificial intelligence, the data streams and location capabilities of 5G will make anonymity a historical artifact.
In China, which has installed three hundred and fifty thousand 5G relays—about ten times more than the United States—enhanced geolocation, coupled with an expansive network of surveillance cameras, each equipped with facial-recognition technology, has enabled authorities to track and subordinate the country’s eleven million Uighur Muslims. According to the Times, “the practice makes China a pioneer in applying next-generation technology to watch its people, potentially ushering in a new era of automated racism.”

Automated racism, folks.

General Spalding is one of many security experts who have warned about cybersecurity risks from 5G (see 1, 2).  He has also written a book, Stealth War, which provides more unsettling details and warnings about how American freedoms are also at risk from 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) technology.  Thanks to Patrick Bet-David for providing a forum for him to speak.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is supposed to protect the public by regulating the telecom industry.  They have been a “captured agency” since long before the Trump Administration.  However, the global “Race to 5G” has made them much more ruthless.  They are even using the coronavirus as an excuse to speed up deploymentwhich also includes launching satellites to blast it at us from space.

American and worldwide opposition to 5G has been ongoing.  Last December doctors, engineers, scientists, and public advocates asked President Trump for a moratoriumCities and countries have taken action including banning it and issuing moratoriums (see 1, 2, 3).  Highly regarded organizations (including the U.S. Navy) have also issued warnings and opposition for additional safety issues (see 1, 2, 3).  A growing number of Congress membersare also expressing deep concerns.
