The CVRD board has requested BC Hydro officials explain to them the ins and outs of smart meters before agreeing to have them installed in the region.
“We’ve had a couple of delegations at the electoral area service committee level and some emails about smart meters and we really don’t know enough about them,” board chair Gerry Giles confirmed.
The CVRD is also requesting the Union of B.C. Municipalities host an educational session about smart meters to help them and other local governments across the province learn more.
Hydro plans to install them throughout B.C. within the next couple of years. Google “smart meters” for information on both sides of the debate.
