Dear Prem. Clark,

One more promise by BC Hydro is being broken. I have dozens of letters sent to people saying that if they are on the “Do not install list” or “Delayed Installation” list or whatever term Hydro is using today, Hydro will not put a meter on a home until they’ve given direct notification. As well, we’ve all been told that the installation will occur only after all of our concerns have been taken into consideration.

I was called today, Monday, Aug. 22, by someone in Oak Bay telling me that installers were knocking on doors. If someone said they were on the “List”, the installers left. But if no one was at home, a meter was installed. The installer did not have a list of those who had specifically withheld permission. In all likelihood, people who are on this “list” will be shocked and angry when they find a smart meter on their home.

This is a breach of trust and on behalf of the untold numbers of persons who have been concerned enough to demand that their wishes be considered I ask that you provide the installers with a list of those homes. If anyone who is on that list has already received a smart meter, Hydro has a responsibility to remove it and return their analogue meter immediately.

We have not been consulted any where along the line with this program, from inception to implementation. We are taxpayers, we own Hydro, we demand respect. I expect you to resolve this problem immediately. Please get back to me and tell me that you have.

Sincerely,

Sharon Noble
