A woman in Bois -de-Filion thinks Hydro Quebec – or at least someone working there – may be selling her personal information to outside contractors.

Contractors who are trying to sell her unnecessary products and services worth thousands of dollars.

Valerie Benard doesn’t know how a man named Nick Savage got her number, but he and another company contacted her just minutes after she got off the phone with Hydro to sell her energy saving equipment.

Coincidentally, she’d been on with Hydro discussing the hike in her bills.

Savage’s packages were worth between $6,000 and $12,000.

She turned him down, and later discovered that Savage had been the object of dozens of complaints at the consumer protection office.

She contacted Hydro and the RCMP, and both are investigating.

But Benard says she wants to know why she was contacted in the first place.

“I’d like to find out who sold my contact information, because everything suggests that they were given out,” she says.

Hydro says it never gives out its customers personal information, and has a code of conduct employees must adhere to.
