Since 5G antennas have been installed near their homes in Geneva, these inhabitants of the same neighborhood suffer from various health problems. Are they the victims of a technology whose dangers have not been sufficiently tested? A doctor and MP denounces.

Gatherd in the apartment of one of them, on the fifth floor of a building in the center of Geneva, these inhabitants of the same neighborhood look at each other. They have in common to have insomnia, tinnitus, headaches. And a heap of unanswered questions.
The youngest, 29-year-old Johan Perruchoud, has been living there for eleven years and is not the type to cultivate any hatred against invasive technology. He is a healthy, active and positive boy, who returns from four years in New York and produces videos and movies finely chiseled for media or private, often working in his room with his computer.

“Like in a microwave”

For him and for his neighbor, everything started in April. “I, who has always been worried about wi-fi and the rest and never had any sleep problems, suddenly had trouble falling asleep. Especially I felt at home, how to say, as in a microwave. I was not well in the house, as if I was surrounded by ghosts. “Arrested, he notes on Facebook and consulting the site of the Confederation * that three antennas 5G have just been put into service nearby and that other people complain of identical disorders, headaches, fatigue. “Was it psychological? I do not know. But for the first time, when I never had a bad ear when composing my music, they whistled. It woke me up at night. All this was unusual. “

The unpleasant sensation of being used, caught in a straitjacket where he did not choose to be, assails him. So he calls Swisscom.Just ten minutes after filling in the basic form, an ultra-empathic accents caller already reminds him. “He was immediately on the defensive. He explained to me that tests had taken place and everything was in order. All in the end, for fitness, he wished me a good recovery. “Today, Johan is a little better, even if he has sinuses clogged for two months; an affection he had never known.

Elidan Arzoni, 50, at rue de Coutance, Geneva. “When they installed the 5G, I felt bad overnight.”

The Solution: move?

His neighbor Elidan Arzoni, 50, is no better. On the same date, similar symptoms, more acute, appear in this actor, director and director of the Company Metamorphoses. “It happened overnight,” he says, “my ears started to make sounds, very loud, even though I did not even know what tinnitus was.” At the same time, he feels pain on the left side of the head and behind the skull. And a heart discomfort so violent that he thinks of a heart attack and that two days later, he goes to the emergency room. There, after a few tests, he is reassured by finding him a “sportsman’s heart”. When he mentions the presence of the antennas, the nurse replies that nobody is trained to inform him about the potential effects of these transmitters. “The only advice I’ve been given is to move …” For him, no doubt, the irruption of antennas is the cause of his ills. “It is obvious. Even Swisscom confirmed it to me in terms of timing. And I’m very healthy, I do not drink, I do not smoke, I never go to the doctor. “He also notes that his wife and children aged 9, 16 and 21 also suffer from insomnia new.

More virulent than Johan, the actor does not hide his concern. He then writes to the President of the State Council, Antonio Hodgers (The Greens), and is simply answered that everything is legal in this new technology. Dissatisfied, he does not hesitate to express his thoughts: “How to forget that the Confederation is the majority shareholder of Swisscom? As soon as one comes against the financial interests of these people, they are in total denial. Nobody is interested in citizens. Even the current report (planned for summer 2019 and carried out by a working group in collaboration with the Federal Office of Communication, it has just been postponed to the end of the year, ed) will not take care no aspect of health. If there is indeed a multiplication of leukemias or brain cancers, it will take years to be seen. “

No way to live under an antenna

Since then, he composes somehow with his earaches, “but it’s unbearable, it’s very strong.” On Facebook, where he willingly exposes his case, he must suffer attacks, agree to be treated as retrograde. That said, no question of moving: “Why should I leave my home while I am a citizen of Geneva, that I pay my taxes here?It would be totally undemocratic. And where to go, since there will be antennas everywhere soon? In the meantime, I feel like an undesirable. I do not know where to flee. My work and my children are there. “Just as troubling: when he moves to neighboring France, his ills are lessening. They come back as soon as he finds the city.

Johan, he says to get used to little by little. However, he promised that if he had children, it was out of the question for his family to live near an antenna. “In my opinion, what happens will have an impact on our generation when we are older.” Worse: if he understands the progress that 5G can bring in specific areas, the medical, research, he thinks that ” for people, it serves almost nothing. “

The two neighbors leave each other on the same wavelength: “We feel like guinea pigs.” Will they only be listened to?

Practitioner and PDC MP Bertrand Buchs has tabled the motion for a moratorium on 5G in Geneva. He sounds the alarm.

Your reaction to these testimonials?

I meet more and more. In the absence of clear studies, we do not have the right to answer to these people that they are imaginary patients. With the shorter waves of the 5G, no one knows what can happen. Not to mention their potentiation, that is to say, their mixture with 3G, 4G, wi-fi.

Why did you introduce this motion?

We are making fun of us. In this case, our authorities are going against common sense. The precautionary principle is clearly violated. Why in just two months so many antennas (a hundred today in Switzerland, for 90% of the territory covered at the end of the year, ed) do they appear? While for any drug, you spend years assessing whether it is good or bad? Everything is going too fast.We live a race with the first operator installed, which happens in a hurry, while there is no objective urgency to install the 5G. For the population, it is almost useless. We could have done as in Germany, where it is reserved for certain companies, and very supervised.

What is the risk?

As nothing is seen or felt, the public believes in zero risk, a bit like in the nuclear field. But we risk experiencing a catastrophe in a few years, for example in the area of tumors. The state will have to assume it.

What do you recommend?

I repeat, after having tried to inform myself in the databases to which I have access as a doctor: no serious study exists yet, which is not surprising when we know that this technology was developed in China, then to the United States. In Switzerland, we could open a line for people who feel bad, listen to these complaints and examine them. Our country has the means and the skills. The debate must be launched because the story is not about to end. Now, with us, it is: “Circulate, there is nothing to see …”
