“An initiative is being launched under the BC Recall and Initiative Act to stop the mandatory installation of smart meters in British Columbia. The executive of StopSmartMeters.ca has gathered a board of consultants and advisors and in October 2011 will begin a pre-registration program for British Columbians opposed to the ongoing installation of smart meters. The completed pre-registration will enable a swift and successful official petition and an initiative vote similar to the HST campaign.
A further announcement will be made in a few weeks, letting people know when and how they can begin pre-registering for the petition. Please keep watching for this announcement.”

I own in a highrise condo. There will be 20 meters on my floor near my unit. I cannot post a sign on my meter to stop this. What can I do to stop the installation?

B.C. Hydro have alreay installed Smart Meters in several rental bldgs. All of these people have experienced an increase in their monthly hydro bills. Some have doubled. In Ontario, Ontarians were promised by their Liveral Gov’t. that they would not be charged for the installation of the Smart meters. Last month they were told that every household will now pay an “installation fee” of $200 a household to pay for the installation of the Smart Meters. This in the midst of a recession.

Thank you for taking the initiative to stop the mandatory installation of the Smart Meter. Profound evidence is readily available of the negative impact and effects of the meter on people, animals, bats, bees, etc. and vegetation shared by people in youtube clips who had ,against their will, a meter installed on their house. Let us know how we can help to make it a success.

I look forward to this iniative. What with the new wireless mesh system proposed for Vancouver and Victoria, cell towers, and the Smart Meters Grid some of us will be lucky to escape without primary and secondary cancers eroding our future.

I look forward to this iniative. The health impacts of microwave radiation (EMF) on humans and all biological life is self evident. If BC Hydro wants their profits they could be honest by proposing alternative options such as wired technology.

Those of us who are concerned and beginning to be informed need to get out to our neighbourhoods and help our neighbours understand the hazards and do the research (that the government should have done) —education is power—people power is what we need now!

Regarding banks of meters.
This is a violation of the FCC law.
FCC is stamped right on the meter face.
NO co-location of meter antennas.
NO install by an amateur temp employee. NO install less than a seet distance from humans.
