FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – SEPTEMBER 14, 2011
RALLIES TO STOP BC HYDRO WIRELESS SMART METERS
When:
Vancouver – Saturday, September 17th, 2011, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Victoria – Sunday, September 18th, 2011, 2:30 – 4:00 pm
Where:
Vancouver – Art Gallery steps (West Georgia and Howe)
Victoria – Legislature lawn. (Downtown)
The BC Liberal government wants to put a costly, invasive, harmful and insecure Wireless “Smart” Meter onto every residence and business in B.C. without the normal oversight protection of the BC Utilities Commission, without democratic public consultation and without our consent. They just want us to shut up and pay the bill!
Citizens for Safe Technology Society and the Coalition to Stop Smart Meters have organized two rallies to raise awareness that we, the people, must demand an immediate moratorium and a complete review of this totalitarian program.
This is an opportunity for every person with concerns about loss of rights as a homeowner and citizen, invasion of privacy, endangerment of health & environment, higher bills, safety risks, job losses and the privatization and selling of our public utilities to speak out and be heard!
We intend to send a loud and clear message to the Liberals: We are taking back our Power!
The Liberal government has been consistently ignoring the public demands for consultation and choice, risks to people and environment and experiences from elsewhere that show no energy or cost savings. Of greatest concern is the highly undemocratic manner in which this “Dumb” Meter program is being forced upon us.

I will be at the Legislature in Victoria on Sunday.
We are now being bombarded by radio ads, allegedly from BC Hydro, although they seem more like government propaganda.
How much are the taxpayers of BC paying for these ads?
If you have not seen it, please rent or buy a copy of the movie “Full Signal” which should be very enlightening.
We need to emphasize the dangers to those living in close proximity to a room of Smart (sic) Meters in an apartment or condominium.
Are the Smart Meters proposed for BC (and already in place in Prince George ?) the same ones being foisted on the people of California?
See you at the leg.
